Family Promise of Tulsa County is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lived Experience Support Specialists to join our team. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well an understanding of the challenges faced by homeless families and the resources available to assist them.
Lived Experience Support Specialists
Family Promise of Tulsa County (FPTC) provides opportunities for families in our diverse community to achieve self-sufficiency by offering community-based programs designed to break the cycle of homelessness. We are seeking an energetic, creative, compassionate and flexible individual to join our team and provide support to our case manager and the families we serve as they work to obtain stable employment, housing, and childcare, as well as work towards their goal of stability. The Lived Experience Support Specialist is a part-time position working 20 to 25 hours per week (with the possibility of becoming full-time) and reports to the Case Manager.
Essential Functions
The Lived Experience Support Specialist will provide compassionate, peer-based support to families experiencing homelessness, leveraging personal lived experience to foster trust and understanding. This role involves actively engaging with clients to assess their needs, facilitating access to resources such as housing, employment, and mental health services. The Specialist will collaborate with the case manager to develop individualized support plans and provide crisis intervention as necessary. Additionally, the Specialist will advocate for clients, empowering them to navigate systems and build resilience while promoting community integration and social connections.
Job Duties

Open/close resource center as scheduled in rotation with other staff/volunteers

Answer telephones

Provide referrals to community partners

Assist case managers with guest families

Maintain knowledge of community resources

Transport guests in facility vehicle when needed

Log all case notes onto Charity Check when needed
-
Make ready apartments for new families including but not limited to cleaning and restocking.

Regularly review, research and coordinate new sources for food, housing, and community support options

Participate in all staff activities including but not limited to, host coordinator meetings, volunteer trainings, and special events

Handle emergency calls on occasion when needed

Other duties as assigned
Required Education/Experience
-
Lived homelessness experience preferred

Must have a current driver’s license

Former guests are welcome to apply (must have graduated FPTC a minimum of two years before applying)

Associate degree preferred but not required
-
Three (3) to (5) years of work experience

Must have the ability to learn and use HMIS and Charity Check for record keeping and reporting purposes

Must have demonstrated involvement working with target clientele
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
-
Computer skills required: basic to intermediate MS Office skills, working knowledge of database administration including HMIS and Charity Check for record keeping and reporting purposes

Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis

Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills. Have a welcoming, fun energy and be a team player

Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively

Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work well under pressure

Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, guest records, files, conversations, etc

Ability to use judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law
Salary: $16 to $18 per hour
Based on education and experience
20 to 25 hours per week to start
